The last road car signed off by Enzo Ferrari himself, built to mark the marque's fortieth anniversary. Born from the stillborn 288 GTO Evoluzione Group B programme, the F40 turned a racing prototype into the fastest, most powerful and most expensive production car of its day: an eleven-piece Kevlar and carbon-fibre body over a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V8, with no carpet, no radio and no door handles, only a pull-cable. This example is one of roughly 93 US-market cars built in 1990, dated by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini to 24 March 1990.
