The result of a high-end, detail-intensive transformation, this car has been reimagined from the ground up by Roadster Salon, a specialty restorer of Fiat Spiders in Chicago. The car returned from a process spanning over three years, delayed in part by the COVID-19 pandemic, as a fundamentally transformed version. The original 1980 model was reclassified as a 1982 due to an engine and VIN change necessitated by extensive adjustments.

The original chassis had been discovered to have been damaged, compromising its structural integrity and prompting a full reconstruction using harvested and recycled components from the initial vehicle. The chassis was fully disassembled, and the body was stripped to bare metal through media blasting. All exterior components, including trim, doors, hood, and deck lid, were removed during this process. It features a custom-fabricated hood, shaved side marker lights, and a redesigned rear fascia. With countless modifications and custom touches, the 1980 Fiat Spider’s original spirit remains untouched, allowing for pure, driver-focused fun. This Spider features a vibrant red exterior with chrome accents that catch the eye. Its convertible top can easily be lowered, allowing drivers to enjoy the open-air cruising experience.

The car’s factory lines and styling details are maintained while thoughtful mechanical upgrades are incorporated to elevate the driving experience. Equipped with a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine, a 5-speed manual transmission, and rear-wheel drive, the Spider delivers impressive acceleration and responsive handling. Fuel delivery has been thoroughly overhauled, including a cleaned and refurbished fuel tank, new fuel filter, pump, and lines. The engine now features a full internal rebuild by Roberto D’Avola and includes high-flow fuel injectors, a new engine wiring harness, and a modern open-computer fuel injection design. Rack-and-pinion steering and front disc brakes retain their place, but have been refined alongside numerous custom components to enhance control, balance, and overall driver feel. Additional safety features, such as anti-lock brakes and seat belts, ensure peace of mind on the road.

The interior was completely removed and restored. All original leather and finishes were carefully refurbished, and new carpets, dash, console, door panels, visors, and a shift boot were installed. The seats were re-foamed for enhanced comfort, a new convertible top was fitted, and additional sound insulation was added to the floors and doors.
